Bernardo Rodrigues Tomás Sousa was born in Funchal on the 16th of May 1987. Besides his successful career in the motor racing world he will soon start his degree in Lisbon.

As early as 1999 he showed a strong interest for the motor world and started in the Karting School, which he was in until the year 2006 when he decided to enter competitive motor racing with the help and support of family and sponsors.

During his Karting years he achieved some important positions; 2nd place in the Madeiran Regional Championship in 2000 and 2001, 2nd place at the Portugal K Open 2001 and started his international career: The following three years he raced the European Karting Championship In 2003 he raced the World Karting Championship and in 2005 won the last race of the Italian Open over 60 participants.

Before his entire focus was turned to rallies –a category he chose for his future career- he performed several tests in single seaters (Formula BMW and Formula Renault) with encouraging results. At this moment he has completed two rally seasons (Madeira and National Championships) with an absolute victory at the Rally Porto Santo Line as well as excellent results in several rallies with some spectacular driving skills that have pleased the audiences.

2008 is the big year for this driver. His future and important challenges are now racing 6 rallies of the Production World Championship and all the races on the Portuguese Rally Championship.
