Red Bull Rally Team pilot ready for another stage of the world championship
Bernardo Sousa na GréciaBERNARDO SOUSA FOCUSED ON GREECE

The countdown to another stage of the World Rally Race (PWRC) has started and Bernardo Sousa is confident when leaving for Greece. Aware of the hard race ahead of him, the Madeiran pilot is determined to do his best at the wheel of his Red Bull Rally Team Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX.

Being the youngest Portuguese pilot ever to compete in the Production World Rally championship – PWRC – is a huge challenge for Bernardo Sousa, who turned 21 right after he competed in the Portuguese Rally. After Sweden, his first ever race where he finished in a brilliant eighth place, and Argentina, the Madeiran pilot travels to the south of Europe to compete in the Acropolis Rally in Greece, between the 29th of May and the 1st of June.

Ready to fight for a leading position amongst a competitive caravan of 62 teams from 29 countries, Bernardo Sousa is aware of the huge challenge facing him: “It’ll be my first time competing in the Acropolis Rally but I am perfectly aware that this is probably the toughest stage of the whole world championship. It’s physically tough, due to the heat, and also very hard on the car”.

His participation in the Portuguese Rally served as a test for this third stage of the PWRC. “The experience gained by the whole team on the Algarve and Alentejo tracks was definitely essential for preparing ourselves for Greece where we know that the suspension and tyres of the Lancer EVO IX are going to suffer extreme wear and tear”. As for his objectives, the Red Bull Rally Team pilot is determined to “do his best and go as far as possible bearing in mind that the first year in the world championship is always a learning year where gaining experience is the most important factor”.
